Remarks
A proposal for the study of drop outs and failures in B. Tech courses in Engineering in Kerala as a prelude to a detailed study of this problem on all India basis in collaboration with Institution of Engineers (India) Kerala Chapter, Achyuta Menon Centre and Sree Chithirathirunal Institute of Medical Sciences and Technology was submitted to AICTE, New Delhi. The Advisor met the Secretary, Ministry of HRD, Government of India and the Chairman, AICTE, New Delhi and explained the need for this study. Adviser met the secretary, Ministry of HRD, GoI and the Chairman, AICTE, New Delhi and the Secretary to explain the need for this study. However AICTE did not support this study. A presentation on the above study was made in a workshop organized on 30-05-2012 in the Institution of Engineers Hall. Many eminent professors and experts participated in this workshop.
On 18th February 2013 the issue was presented to
Hon. Minister of State for Human Resource Development Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Kerala State Planning Board, Minister of Education, Chief Minister, Minister for ST Development. `On 26-04-2013 we have conducted a one day workshop on Quality and Employability to study of the quality and employability in engineering education at CUSAT, Kochi in association with Equal Opportunity Cell, CUSAT.
